The beginning of a special journey
In a yoga ashram on the Ganges, our founder Wolfgang found the inspiration for an idea that would later become Lotuscrafts. Here, we'll tell you more about it!
Inspired by a journey to India.
The story of Lotuscrafts begins with a break our founder Wolfgang took at a yoga ashram on the Ganges. There, the desire arose to share his passion for yoga and, above all, to create something of his own. The name Lotuscrafts also has its roots in India: the lotus flower stands for purity, beauty, and spirituality, while 'crafts' expresses an appreciation for craftsmanship, quality materials, and careful production. Together, the name still stands for our aspiration today: to create timelessly beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and long-lasting products for yoga and meditation.
From the first meditation cushion to the first yoga mat and far beyond.
In 2011, Lotuscrafts began in a Vienna living room with a self-filled meditation cushion and the idea of creating high-quality products for yoga and meditation. From this small beginning, things grew step by step. In 2013, GOTS certification (Kiwa BCS 25863) marked an important milestone, and just a year later our first yoga mat came onto the market. With every new product, not only our range grew, but also the Lotuscrafts community. In 2016, we were finally able to welcome our 100,000th customer.
A new chapter: From our first yoga clothing to equipping studios.
In 2018, we took the next step and launched our first yoga clothing. At the same time, our community kept growing steadily, and with it the number of yoga studios that trusted Lotuscrafts. By 2020, we were already able to equip over 1,000 yoga studios and accompany them with our products in their daily yoga routine.
Closer than ever: Production in Europe and our store in Vienna!
Continuing to grow with Lotuscrafts also meant taking new paths in production. So in 2022, we started producing selected products in Europe. Just a year later, another wish became reality: our first own Lotuscrafts store opened its doors in Vienna in 2023, and it's now a place where our products and our brand can be experienced firsthand for the first time.
15 Years of Lotuscrafts – Room to Grow
Over the years, our range has also grown steadily alongside Lotuscrafts and kept evolving. New products, new ideas, and new possibilities need room, and we created exactly that by moving into a larger warehouse. After 15 years of Lotuscrafts, we look back with joy at what has been created, while also looking ahead with excitement. Because we still have many ideas, are exploring new possibilities, and keep developing further to accompany and inspire you on your path with yoga and meditation in the future, too. Our journey continues, and we're looking forward to everything still to come.
