At Lotuscrafts, we place great importance on high social and environmental standards throughout the entire value chain. To give our customers a good feeling about their yoga and meditation practice, our products carry the internationally recognised GOTS label.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading and recognised standard for the processing of textiles made from organically produced natural fibres. It defines not only the environmental requirements along the entire textile production chain, but also the social criteria that must be met. GOTS relies on a dual system of on-site inspections and residue analyses to ensure full compliance with the criteria.
The GOTS standards define the requirements that ensure the sustainable production of textiles – from the harvesting of raw textile fibres and environmentally friendly, socially responsible manufacturing through to the labelling of the end products. Compliance with these social and environmental standards is made visible by the GOTS label on the product. This gives consumers confidence in their purchasing decision.
Fair & organic
Products with GOTS certification consist of at least 70% organically produced natural fibres – and those with the additional label “organic” even of 95%.
Strict requirements also apply to processing: all chemical additives used – such as dyes or auxiliaries – must meet strict environmental and health criteria. In addition, companies are required to work in a resource-efficient way, choose environmentally friendly packaging materials and implement measures to reduce waste and wastewater.
Social responsibility
Processors and manufacturers of GOTS-certified textiles are required to comply with comprehensive social criteria in line with the core labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
These include safe and hygienic working conditions, the prohibition of child labour and discrimination, as well as regulated working hours and sufficient rest periods.
